Where are you from?
I am from Japan, and used to live in Hiroshima.
What inspired you to start ‘AS USUAL’?
I started in August 2012. My friends inspired me.
Why did you choose the name ‘AS USUAL’?
Other than “AS USUAL” being a phrase that I like, I wanted to capture usual people in their “AS USUAL” situations.
How many followers do you have?
Nowadays, I am using Instagram, which is @as_usual_ny, to let people know about new posts on my blog. I must have about 1200 followers by now.
Who are your readers?
Mostly people who live in the U.S.
What gear do you use? (i.e. camera, lens, speed, aperture, etc).
I am using a Nikon D600 and a 85mm 1.8F lens now.
Where do you usually shoot?
Soho mostly.
What is the style that you look for when shooting in the street?
I don’t know how to describe this, really. I just want to take photos of people that come across as something special.
How would you define fashion?
I am on my way to figure it out, through street style photography. I think real fashion lives in the street.

Shy Japanese.

Where do you shop your own wardrobe?
I would say Gray Market which is located in Williamsburg. I often shop online.
What do you like in New York?
There are many kinds of people, that do not judge you by your cover or age.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I wish I could travel around the world.
